(NEWS)

2012:

Feb: The year is off to a good start, with a handful of illustration projects, including a cover for the Wall Street Journal I'm working on now. I am honored once again to be heading to the University of AZ in Tucson (my alma mater) to be a judge in the UA Viscom exhibit. I had a great experience in the MFA program there, and this is my third time being asked to be a judge. Strong students, faculty and program.

Jan: I'm happy to have survived the crazy busy month of Dec. The opening sequence and titles for Magic Camp (doc) are finished... will post visuals when film is released. Here is the ecard for White Rhino finished in December, and a time lapse video of the sculpting of the Rhino. Continuing to work on concepts for two other title treatments (for films) to be directed by Ethan Maniquis.

2011:

Dec: Along with a number of illustrations for print, I worked on a new holiday e-card animation for White Rhino. Also, was deep in title and opening sequence design for a new documentary film called "Magic Camp" by Flatbush Pictures, directed by Judd Ehrlich. Working on two other title treatments for films to be directed by Ethan Maniquis. It was a crazy month.

Nov 23: Music video featured on Communication Arts front page. 2011 Cebu City Philippines International Invitation Exhibition of KDAA (Korea Digital Artist’s Association), Philippines.

Nov 4-6: I spoke and gave a lecture/workshop in Kansas City about illustration, animation and how to get lost in Adobe After Effects. Many thanks to Melissa Untch, Steve and Shelley Mayse for all their help and hospitality.

Late Summer: Showed new work (animation, prints, sculpture) at .NO gallery (NYC) Sept 7th. Thanks to Sol Kjok for putting it together!

Summer: I've kept busy with work for The Deal, Wall Street Journal, Utne Reader, The Santa Fe Reporter to name a few. Also, spent time in MN waterskiing and fishing, and saw lots of live music outside around Brooklyn.

May: I participated in a discussion about "illustrators who animate" at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Also on the panel were David Cowles, Ed Binkley and Julie Lieberman. A big thanks to Julie Lieberman for organizing this event, and to SCAD for bringing me in.

March: I've just returned from teaching a workshop at Intuit Lab in Paris in early March. It was amazing... the school, students, other visiting aritsts were all fantastic. intuit-lab, Paris

Feb: A fully animated music video for the band Senses Fail has just been released. See it in the ANIMATION section here, and the interview in Communication Arts.

Jan: Created a motion graphics / animation for G4TV. It is for a segment of "Attack of the Show" called "gadget pron" where they review gadgets and gizmos. See it in the ANIMATION section here.

2010:

Winter: The team at White Rhino had my shop animate their holiday greeting card http://www.whiterhino.com/happyholidays. This was both really fun to make and an honor to do.

As always, numerous editorial projects have kept the fires burning.

In early November I wrote music video pitches for Paul Simon and Neil Diamond. While neither of these two came to fruition it's still an honor to be asked to pitch and nice to hear songs before they're released.

Summer: created 3 illustrations for HP's new revolutionary approach to IT Service Management called "48Upper". The agency was White Rhino in Boston, who I worked with previously on an campaign for AVID. Numerous editorial projects, along with another animation (soon to be made public) kept me busy. We also worked on motion graphics projects for ESPN and MSNBC. Illustration work includes Utne Reader, Wall Street Journal, Milwaukee Magazine and a few others.

July 1: The studio relocated to a reclaimed factory in Brooklyn. It was originally a Civil War munitions foundry, complete with smokestacks in the rear yard... Now it's a factory that makes art, not war. It is a huge upgrade from the old digs.

Earlier in the year projects from The Deal, Belmont University, Gulfshore magazine, New Scientist, Playboy, Business Week and Computer World kept the studio jamming at full capacity. As always, there are a handful of video pitches and ad projects that I'm sworn to secrecy on, nuff said about that.

2009:

For CHEETOS, a 7 ft tall 3D point of purchase display was created for use in convenience stores nation wide.

Keith Urban’s music video "Kiss a Girl" was a fun but insane deadline. My studio did the animation that is the story of the guy and girl meeting. The band performance animation was done by the team at DUCK Studios. Here is a press release.

HD animation and print campaign for AVID. The theme of the campaign is "New Thinking". See it in the ANIMATION section here. Thanks to White Rhino (Boston agency that found us) and the higher-ups at AVID. The work was shown in huge format at the AVID trade shows, with the animation projected the size of a billboard.

The AVID "NEW THINKING" animation won 5 Telly awards (best animation, best graphics, best art direction, best show opening segment, and best live event). More Telly links: trustcollective.com It is second in the lineup under the ANIMATION link.

A group exhibit in Vevring, Norway was a wonderful experience with lots of great people, art and food. I was also able to scoot off to Tokyo in mid-summer, which was another extremely inspiring trip.

An animated music video for OZOMATLI (Los Angeles).

Here is a list of of other projects:

An ad for Epson printers...Epson wanted to show the process behind the ad, so they have an interview about the ad creation (on the link above).

An identity overhaul for an ad agency in Alabama called LUCKIE. I worked on their capabilities brochure, an updated web look, and a 30 second animation.
